AI

Artificial Intelligence. The intelligent agents that controls non-player characters.

boss

A particularly strong or unique enemy generally encountered at the end of a level.

cooperative gameplay

Gameplay that involves more than one player working together toward a common goal.

gameplay

The interaction between the player and the game itself.

gamer

Someone who plays video games.

hardcore gamer

A gamer who plays games more than the average gamer and seeks greater challenges.

health

A graphical or numeric representation of how much damage a game entity can take before it dies.

HUD

Heads-Up Display. The on-screen display of game status, including health, score, or time.

ink

The liquid-like substance that spews from damaged stick figures.

joystick

A controller device for controlling a game.

level

A themed subdivision of the game.

street-brawler

A game where fighting multiple enemies is the core of gameplay, such as "Final Fight," and "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles."
